Fly from Vadodara to Leh, normally connecting in Delhi. Transfer to the hotel on arrival and keep the day completely free: check in, rest, drink plenty of water and let your body begin adjusting to the altitude.

An easier day to start. Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Hill and the Sangam where the Indus and Zanskar meet, then Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and Leh Market before returning to the hotel.

Drive north over Khardung La into the Nubra Valley, stopping at Diskit Monastery and the Hunder sand dunes. A double-humped Bactrian camel ride at Hunder is available and is not included in the price.

A full day out to Turtuk, one of the last villages before the frontier and among the most striking in Ladakh. Time to walk the village, see the mountain landscape and meet its Balti culture before returning to Nubra.

Leave Nubra for Pangong Tso, taking the Shyok route when conditions allow. Arrive with the afternoon free to watch the lake change colour against the mountains as the light goes.

Sunrise at the lake and breakfast, then the drive back to Leh over Chang La. Depending on timing and road conditions there is usually a stop at Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace on the way in.
